The Centre was established in 2004 to promote knowledge of the Asian region
in the University and in the community. The Centre aims to:
- provide forums for discussion of ideas about the Asian region
in the University
- build links with Asian-related education, community and school
activities
- extend Asia centred expertise across the University, in particular
via the Asian Studies and Asian language majors
- give the study of the Asian region a more public identity
and presence in the University
- provide a network for staff with knowledge of the Asian region
