Upper Level Topics
For those doing a Sociology major or upper level second and third year topics, Sociology is flexible. Within a few parameters, you can choose a sequence of topics that fits your needs and interests.
We have two groups of topics, Group A and Group B. To successfully complete a major in Sociology, you must complete 24 units of upper level topics, and at least 6 of these units (one topic) will need to be from Group A and one from Group B.

* Topics, which appear in both groups, may be used to fulfil only one of these requirements.
If you are considering doing Honours in Sociology, we require that you complete either SOCI 2008, SOCI 2009 or SOCI 2014 and either SOCI 2005 or SOCI 2010.
